The AIA has presented Arrasmith, Judd, Rapp, Chovan, Inc. with the 2010 Honor Award for Excellence in Architectural Design for the Clinical and Translational Research Building at the University of Louisville during the recent AIA Kentucky / Indiana convention.

Here are the jury comments:
"Rotating the building along Hancock in juxtaposition to the parking structure was very successful in inviting the people into the building. It's a dense, organized structure, yet it's incredibly detailed. The massing of the proportions was well executed. Given the density of the program, it's interesting that the architects were able to pull out the office spaces in and around the stairs and conference rooms so that the researchers, as they travel form the labs to the office space, have a chance to intermingle with other office staff and still have views to the outside. A clever way of positioning the dense program up against the parking garage keeps a balance of openness off of Hancock"
