These four 11,000 sq. foot personal care homes on the campus of Eastern State Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky make up the Central Kentucky Recovery Center. Each home has the capacity to house 16 people. These homes offer less restrictive care than the neighboring psychiatric hospital. Resembling units of an apartment complex, the design and programs are dedicated to helping individuals transition to community living. Featuring courtyards and open-air porches, the buildings take advantage of the park-like setting and allow plenty of natural light inside. This is also a LEED certified project which meets the highest green building and performance standards.
